Higher Education in Arkansas Colleges
Arkansas annually devotes considerable effort to attract out-of-state citizens, and the effort shows in its many opportunities for unique cultural experiences. The state’s largest city, Little Rock, boasts semi-professional orchestras, choral groups, and ballet, theatre, and opera companies. Other cities rounding out the top five in terms of population include Fort Smith, Fayetteville, Springdale, and Jonesboro.
Degrees in computer-related fields are the hot item in Arkansas, as jobs relating to the computer industry are expected to skyrocket in the next ten years. In heavy demand are computer software engineers, computer support specialists, and network system administrators. Although the state’s current largest employers include the state government and Wal-Mart Stores, Inc., a demand for increased revenue has led to cooperation with many national corporations--setting the stage for a likely surge in economic opportunity in this once poverty-stricken state. |
