Higher Education in Oklahoma Colleges
Oklahoma owes much of its culture to the nation’s second-highest population of American Indians. According to the EPA, Oklahoma also holds claim to having the most diverse terrain in the nation. The combination of the two, as well as a successful economy, contribute to the increasing population that the state has seen in recent years.
Oklahoma’s three largest cities are Oklahoma City, Tulsa, and Norman--all home to some of the finest universities in the country. Several careers look to be in high demand in coming years, most notably survey researchers, systems analysts, physician assistants, and environmental scientists. Tinker Air Force Base, University of Oklahoma, and Saint Francis Health System are the top employers in the state. Major companies based in Oklahoma City include Sonic, AT&T and OBO Energy. |
